Leave nothing but footprints on island I am a Mote Marine volunteer on the Sarasota Bay Explorer, a tour boat that makes three trips a day from Mote to Big Edwards Island. The volunteer takes the passengers for a short nature walk. This summer, the island has been strewn with trash bags, beer bottles, soda cans, etc. Not only is it a health hazard, it's extremely unsightly and is embarrassing to those of us who live in and love Sarasota. Most of our passengers are tourists, and this is definitely not an image we want them to leave with. We're famous for our pristine beaches and parks. Those who take a boat to Big Edwards Island should take their trash home with them. Leave nothing but footprints. Stephen Dickman Sarasota
