    Re: Coastal Clean Up 2006
    by Patrick
All, Just wanted to let you know of an upcoming event in your neighborhood... On Saturday, September 30th from 8 a.m. to noon, we will be celebrating National Public Lands Day with events to be held at Pocono Trails Preserve and along the "Rails to Trails" corridor behind Nokomis Community Park. The event at Pocono will consist of air potato vine removal and trash pick up. Similar activities are planned along the Rails to Trails corridor. See the attached press release and map for more information. Also, we are getting closer to selecting an official name for Pocono Trails Preserve. Of the nominations we received, it's no surprise that Pocono Trails Preserve was the most popular. The next step in the process will be for me to compile a list of all the nominations, and pertinent historical information and present it to our Environmentally Sensitive Lands Committee (ESLOC) at their 9/7 meeting. From this, they will formally make a recommendation which will go to the Board of County Commissioners for approval in late September or early October (date is not final yet). At that point, it will become official. So, stay tuned and I'll try to keep you posted as we make our way through the long, drawn-out process. That's about it for now. Hope everyone's having an enjoyable summer. See you soon. Sincerely, Jeff Weber, Land Manager Pocono Trails Preserve 861-6241 jweber@scgov.net
